A Calmer Mind

When you learn to return to the present moment, your mind settles. You feel it in the moment. One minute of return. One minute of calm. That is the benefit. Real and available to you now.

Meet Your Guide

Zen : Your Way teaches you meditation bit by bit. Clear instructions. Then silence. One idea at a time. Day by day you build your practice. On the cushion and in daily life.

Deeper Sits

As you keep showing up, the practice deepens. You learn how to sit. Week by week, the silence grows. You are building something that lasts. A practice that becomes your own.

10-Minute Meditation for Letting Go

A few seconds of instruction. One Present Return, then a longer sit with the breath — returning to the present moment.

Most people think a real sit should feel deep and special. Ten minutes is where that idea meets the body. This is the length where real sitting meditation begins. Not because something magical happens at minute ten. Because you stay long enough for the mind to get restless, bored, and loud, and you practice staying anyway. That is already a lot. For many people, it is hard.

The practice is simple: just sit. Do not strive for a special feeling. Do not grade the sit. Stay with what is here. When the mind wanders, come back. That is it.

When you are holding on, a longer sit is practice in not adding a second story. Stay with what is here. Same sit as long meditation. The words around it change for today.

On The Cushion

I teach two kinds of practice: off the cushion, small returns in ordinary life, and on the cushion, the longer sits where you learn to stay. This page is the second.

This is not Present Return repeated for ten minutes. You can open with one Present Return if you like. Then you stay. When the mind wanders, come back. That return, over and over, is the practice.

If ten minutes still feels like too much, that is honest. Start with short meditation, or step through 3 minutes and 5 minutes. Or start from all the longer sits.

When You Are Holding On

Letting go is not a dramatic purge. You sit. You stop feeding the extra story. Soften if you can. Come back when you wander.

If anger is loud, sit with the heat in the body. Return is the practice.

Learn To Sit

The way I teach a daily sitting practice is not a longer pep talk on this page. It is the seven-day course: one clear idea a day, then a sit.

That week is how you learn to stay on the cushion without turning meditation into a project. After that, keep sitting. Miss a day sometimes. Sit again.

Meditation can be hard. Ten minutes will show you that. The important thing is not to win the sit. It is to return, and to come back tomorrow.
