Sound — Compact
Welcome. This is Sound — hearing, one of three foundational sense practices. Listen to the soundscape around you for about a minute.
[Pause 2s]
Make yourself comfortable — sitting, standing, whatever works. Soften the eyes, or close them — whatever helps you listen.
[Pause 2s]
All you need to do is listen to the sounds around you. Let them come to you — no need to hunt.
[Pause 4s]
Notice any continuous sound — a background hum, a soft hiss, or distant traffic. Just hear it.
[Pause 5s]
Notice any brief sounds too — a door closing, a voice, or footsteps. Just notice them.
[Pause 5s]
If the mind tells a story about a sound, soften and come back to listening.
[Pause 4s]
The sounds can stay. Soften. You can leave it here.
[Pause 3s]
Alright — that brings us to the end.
Run this a couple of times until you can rest with the soundscape without the audio.
Thank you for listening with me.
